WizKids Unleashes New Monster Manual D&D Miniatures

It’s a glorious time for all things spiked, clawed, scaled and oozing. That’s because Dungeons & Dragons’ new 2025 Monster Manual is finally upon us. The book features a whopping 500 unique monsters, covering everything from classic creatures like goblins and beholders, to a range of new beasts that have never appeared in previous editions.

To celebrate the launch of the new sourcebook, WizKids is releasing a set of pre-painted D&D miniatures based on the artwork from the new Monster Manual. The series is designed to capture a range of different creature types and Challenge Ratings, making them a solid option for both collectors and Dungeon Masters looking to use them at the table.

So just what can fans expect from these tiny terrors? Below, we take a closer look at all the details.

What are WizKids new DnD Monster Manual minis?

WizKids’ upcoming Monster Manual Collection 1  is part of their long running Dungeons & Dragons: Icons of the Realms series and will include 47 pre-painted miniatures which are all based on new artwork featured in the 2025 Monster Manual. This includes a range of sizes and creatures, including a Nightmare, Nalfeshnee, Ghast, Helmed Horror, Black Puddings, Cultists, Lizardman, Fire Elemental, Hobgoblin, Smoke Mephit and a new Gnoll Demoniac variant.

The minis will also include several new red dragons, although it’s worth noting that these are not the same as the WizKid’s larger format Red Dragon Tyrant, which is based on a new dragon design created by Wizards of the Coast’s art team and work from noted fantasy illustrator Todd Lockwood.

How much are the new WizKids Monster Manual miniatures?

A set of 10 booster boxes (each containing four miniatures) will retail for $199.90 USD. This is comparable to what we’ve seen with similar sets (such as their D&D Classics: Monsters collection). It works out to about $20 a box or around $5 a miniature, which isn’t bad considering the quality of the materials and the fact that they’re all pre-painted.

It’s possible that some retailers may sell individual booster boxes for a separate price, but this not yet been confirmed by WizKids and your mileage may vary depending on your local game store.

When will the new Monster Manual minis be released?

The new WizKids minis are currently slated for release in May 2025. This date, however, may change depending on production. If you are ordering it online you should expect a few weeks for shipping and handling. It will also likely show up in local game stores around the same time, so you may want to check with retailers near you if you’re thinking of picking any of the booster boxes up.

Final Thoughts

WizKids has been releasing some solid minis over the past year, including new sets like Baldur’s Gate 3 and larger figures like their Black Dragon Corruptor, so it’s great to see them also supporting the new 2025 Monster Manual. The range of creatures available in this new collection looks solid and really does seem to showcases some of the newer and impressive designs from the Wizards of the Coast art team.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this release in the days ahead and will update this page with more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, you can pre-order the new Monster Manual minis now via the WizKids website.
